To a certain extent, every piece of art you do becomes a page of your life journal. Every time I flip through an issue of Pirate Club, memories are triggered by certain images, reminding me of what was happening in my life as I drew that page. This page is definitely going to be one of those pages.
As I often do, Saturday I was at the Library drawing (getting out of the house, away from TV and video games is usually a plus) hanging out with “Bluedick’s Ghost” scribe, Jason Young when he said, “Hey, is that Shawn Bird waving over there?” Sure enough, a group of my old friends happened to be at the Library, friends I hadn’t seen in a few years.
They were all heading off to another friends graduation and invited me to go, so I packed up my art supplies and tagged along, drawing throughout the ceremony…very classy, I know. Of course, my hoodie, Suicide Machines jacket and tennis shoes already made me stand out, so who cares, right? It was really fun though, and I got to catch up with them, their spouses and kids…funny how these kinds of meet-ups happen.
This was a good page…even though an old woman pissed herself and lost her wig.
