24 hr. Comic '09 Cover

Well, I’m taking a bit of a hiatus to work on some comic pitches for the upcoming convention season, and instead of leaving you with NOTHING to read for the next couple months, I am going to be putting my 24 hr. comic from these year as a “break” between chapter’s 2 and 3 of “Suburban Warfare”.

My screenwriter friend, and frequent Pirate Club collaborator, Elias Pate, came to me a few months ago, asking if I would consider drawing a comic he’d written.  Usually I am not inclined to draw anything someone else has written, but I really like Elias’ writing, and had to hear the story to see if I wanted to do it.  After hearing a rough outline, I was sure this was something I needed to do, it all sounded very “Pixar” and “TenNappel” 2 things I view as being infallible.

I am sad to be doing this, cause issue 3 is really good, but to be honest, not too many people seem to be checking out Pirate Club online, and “Bennie and the Bomber” is something that I think a lot of people could enjoy.  And that’s really the point of all of this, isn’t it?  Making something the world can enjoy.  I’ve already started on concepts and issue 1 is completely written.  Wish us luck as we try to get it all wrapped up in a nice package to show everyone.

I’ll be back to Pirate Club, but I gotta see if I can make this other thing work.

Without further adieu, enjoy my 24 hour comic, with Guest artist, Ryan Ottley drawing the cover you see here today!  To explain a bit, after 19 of my 24 hour comic day experience, i only got to page 12, so I stopped and went in the other room to my warm bed.  The whole gang made fun of me a lot, I’ve been told.
